So let’s say you got an old PowerPC Mac and you want to reinstall the OS X or upgrade to Leopard but your machine has CD drivers only and your Leopard disk is DVD (as I mentioned before some of the G3/G4 Macs won’t boot from USB). This post shows you how to boot it from USB, but it’s not 100% guaranteed that it will work in all scenarios. Mar 03, 2015 Repository moved to Github Submitted by Seppel on March 3, 2015 - 21:46, GMT +0100. I moved the main repository of PearPC to Github. Hopefully this makes merging patches easier. Additionally, I made the repository compile under clang and the assembler shipped with Mac OS X. About QEMU, a PPC Mac emulator (among many others) for Windows, MacOSX, and Linux that can run Mac OS 9.0 up to Mac OS X 10.5.
All versions of Mac OS X that were made to run on PowerPC systems (with the exception of Leopard) had a Mac OS 9 emulation layer called 'Classic'. It allowed Mac OS X to run Mac OS 9 applications that weren't updated to run natively on OS X (known as carbonization based on the Carbon API). Sep 09, 2019 Voted for Mac OS, because as of now I haven't tried any alternative operating systems on PowerPC Macs. After getting through the hassle of trying Linux on my 2006 iMac, I'd like to make Tiger and Leopard as usable as possible.

Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) is also the first Mac OS release since the introduction of System 7.1.2 that does not support the PowerPC architecture, as Apple now intends to focus on its current line of Intel-based products.
Thus OS X supported PowerPC up to and including version 10.5 (Leopard).

10.5 Leopard is the last to support PowerPC as far as I know:

Snow leopard does support PowerPC applications, this function was dropped with Lion. I base this on one MacBook with Snow Leopard on it works fine with Microsoft Office X, Quake II (OS XVersion), Halo, Roxio Toast Lite 5.2.2.
Free download cma report software. However on my upgrade MacBook running Lion they are tomb stoned and when you try to run them the message you receive is PowerPcC no longer supported!
